It's a blog! It's a newsletter! It's a career retrospective! It's a guide to digital technology and anything else I can think of to throw in here!
There's a lot going on with this website, and this is your friendly guide to how to get the most out of it.
No matter who you are and how you got here, you should read How the Website is Organized and How (and Why) to Support Us.
Since this website does a lot, you may be here for different reasons. You may be here for career stuff. You may be here to learn more about this Humble Genius thing. Or, you may be here for tech stuff, startup stuff, or my (sometimes not so) humble opinions. You can skip right to the introduction for each or read all the way to the end of the page. Up to you.
If you are here for career stuff
Welcome! The content is organized by audience. Read the Career Stuff page, then, find your home:
For Technical Recruiters/Human Resources
Do you recruit technical talent or help in any way to hire technical talent? Do you modify org charts? Do you help to create job descriptions for technical roles? If you do not actively work with the technology, the terms and concepts can all start to sound the same. I can help make sense of it all. Start at the Technical Recruiters page or the Human Resources page.
For Executives/Business Leaders
Are you a Director, a VP, President or another officer of a company that makes software to sell as a product or service? Or a company that contracts with others to make custom software for you? Or a company that even just uses software? You might need some help making sense of everything you see in your budgets. Start at the Executive Leadership page.
For Product Developers
Are you a Product Owner, a Business Analyst or Project Manager? Start at the Product Developers page.
For Software Creators
Software Engineers by any name, Software Architects and Staff Engineers. If you are creating software of any kind, you fit in this category. Start at the Software Creators page.
For Software Supporters
DevOps, QA, Tech Support – you may not write the actual code (DevOps, I know you write code to support processes and infrastructure, but it's all in the name of supporting the stuff that the Software Creators produce, which is why I added you here), but you are the gatekeepers and front-line support for all the stuff the Software Creators deliver. Start at the Software Supporters page.
For Managers
Do you manage I.T. Professionals of any kind? You could probably use a stiff drink and some guidance. I can help with the guidance. Start at the Managers page.
