If you want to skip all the words and just subscribe, welcome! Subscribe here!
But, please do read all the words!
A Humble Genius is a labor of love, but I do rely on subscriptions to keep me going.
There are two ways to support me and the website: Tips and Subscriptions. No matter how you support the website, make sure you read the Important Things to Know section.
Tips!
Tips are easy! If an article just spoke to you, or changed the way you look at the world, or just made you laugh, you can leave a tip! The link is at the end of every article, but you can also tip from here. Tips are powered by Stripe and will display our company name: Leet Enterprise LLC. Understood? Good! Leave a tip! (and thank you!)
Even better, subscribe!
Subscribe here: This link! Right here!
There is a free tier that delivers a weekly newsletter. But the premium tier is where the good stuff is.
Why subscribe?
I am a one-man company, at the moment, with big plans (see below) for the near future. But, I can only follow through with those plans if I have a steady income. That's why paid subscriptions are important to keep me going.
By subscribing, you will have access to premium content. More importantly, you will be supporting me in my upcoming projects.
There are special bonuses for software developers and other technical types!
Some of the premium content will include snippets of my production code from this website (the Ghost template I created, the JavaScript I used, etc) along with the how and why I did things the way I did. This will also apply to my future projects. I won't publish full source, but select production code in the context of an article will show up. I will include this rating symbol in the header of an article when that happens:
More reasons to subscribe! I want to avoid ads!
Blog content and any apps or games I produce will not use the ad services you know and despise. I would consider sponsored content, but it would need to be on my terms.
This is important to me. I have some strong opinions about current ad services and the state of the digital advertising industry. I do not want to feed into that system from either direction. I could take the easy path and slap ads all over my products. But, maintaining my integrity is more important than making things easy for myself.
That said, I may not be able to avoid ads with any future podcasts or video content, depending on the platform(s) I choose to publish my content. I will explore options for avoiding that, as well, if I can, and will switch away from any ad-driven system as soon as feasible when creating that kind of content.
Paid subscriptions will help there, as well, as that will help me to establish my name and reputation so I will have the leverage to work with partners for sponsorships rather than using the ad systems.
So, what are my big plans?
- Writing. Lots and lots of writing about technical stuff.
- Video game publishing. I have a concept, a story, and preliminary art for the first of (hopefully) a few games.
- Short form video for non-technical stuff
- Writing. Lots and lots of writing about non-technical stuff.
- Maybe some app prototypes for concepts I want to sell to others in my spare time.
Why support me, in particular?
I hope it will soon be more clear, as I produce more content on this website, that I am not your average small business owner.
I am honest and transparent. I will be running my company out in the open, meaning I will be writing blog posts about how and why I am doing everything. This is an adventure for me, and I am a storyteller. I can't help but share the adventure with you (my readers) as I go. I also believe in sharing knowledge, whether it is a lesson learned through success or a lesson learned through failure. As long as I have enough support to keep this adventure going, I will share the ups and downs and lessons learned.
I do everything with a purpose and with the greater good in mind. Yes, even the video games that I am creating and the video content I am planning.
I have a lot of wisdom and stories to share. I have had a long and interesting career. I often have somewhat unique perspectives on technology, leadership and management, having first studied philosophy, psychology and anthropology before moving into a career in technology.
I hope to achieve success as a company with integrity, honesty, transparency, and with a focus on the greater good. And, in the process, I want to create a template, of sorts, for others to do the same.
If that sounds like the kind of business model you want to see more of in the world, then support me so I can practice it and lead by example.
Important things to know
This site is hosted by ghost.org and runs on the Ghost publishing platform.
Subscriptions are managed by ghost.org. A Humble Genius and Leet Enterprises LLC are responsible for and have rights to all of the content on this site. The data we do collect (see the Privacy Policy) is stored by ghost.org, not Leet Enterprises LLC. We collect only the bare minimum data, but that bare minimum is stored by the platform that runs this website, and we at Leet Enterprises LLC do not have direct access to that data.
Payments are handled by Stripe, which is configured for this site by the admin portal at ghost.org. Payments will reflect the parent company name: Leet Enterprises LLC.
When I have more detailed information about how those things work, I will create blog posts and link to them here.
